There are as many car chargers on the market as there are different phones. Different phones mean different plugs. What if you lost your phone and had to get a new one. Is the new one the same model as the old one? Is it different enough that your previous accessories won’t work. That means your old car charger might be useless due to compatibility.
Dexim created a dual car charger that fixes that problem. First off it features an iOS device USB charger that works with iPods, iPads and iPhones (except for the iPhone 5). Along with the iOS specific cable, you also get a retractable USB cable that allows you to switch out interchangeable phone tips for different devices like Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson.
The interchangeable phone tips are as great as they are a problem. If a friend of mine needs a specific phone charger, well I can easily pull it out. The problem is there are so many to keep track of. They are small and it can be easily to lose one. I ended up using a small bag I used to keep my earphones in. It’s an easy switch out, just switch out the tip and you’re done in half a second. Just make sure you don’t drop it.
I’m not a huge fan of the retractable cord, since any light tug and the thing flails after unhooking by force. It needs to be very stable, aside from the interchangeable tips there isn’t anything special about the charger. If all else fails, this is still a dual USB charger, so you can use a USB cable to charge your devices. I’ve used it for car rides,ad charge my PS Vita and 3DS for long car rides and does the job it’s meant to do.
